Position Summary
Olympic View Montessori is seeking a Montessori Assistant Teacher or intern to join our warm, child‐centered preschool community. The ideal candidate is nurturing, dependable, and eager to support children’s independence, emotional regulation, and love of learning in a calm, structured Montessori environment.
Key Responsibilities
Classroom Support — Assist the Lead Montessori Teacher in preparing, maintaining, and rotating Montessori materials across Practical Life, Sensorial, Language, Math, Science, and Cultural areas.
Child Guidance — Support children with gentle redirection, modeling grace and courtesy, and fostering independence and problem‐solving.
Observation — Observe children’s engagement and needs, communicating insights to the Lead Teacher to support individualized learning.
Classroom Environment — Maintain a clean, orderly, and peaceful classroom that reflects Montessori principles.
Daily Routines — Assist with arrival, dismissal, transitions, toileting, snack preparation, and outdoor play.
Family Communication — Build warm, professional relationships with families while maintaining confidentiality and alignment with school communication practices.
Team Collaboration — Work closely with the Lead Teacher and school director to support a cohesive, respectful teaching team.
Safety & Supervision — Ensure consistent supervision and uphold all licensing, safety, and health protocols.
Qualifications
Experience with young children in a preschool or childcare setting (Montessori experience preferred but not required).
Interest in Montessori philosophy and willingness to learn and apply Montessori methods.
Ability to maintain a calm, grounded presence and support children with warmth and respect.
Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and actively participate in floor‐level work and outdoor play.
Must pass background check and meet Washington State licensing requirements (MERIT, CPR/First Aid, TB test, etc.). If the requirements cannot be met, assistance can be given to complete.
Schedule and compensation
Monday–Friday ( starting full-time, possibly going to a part-time position depending on enrollment)
